Our Mission
The FLOW (For Lives of Women) Foundation is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization and resource center dedicated to domestic violence awareness and prevention, with a focus on saving women's lives. Our mission is to educate, empower, and assist women and children affected by domestic violence, including emotional, economic, sexual, and physical abuse.
We provide support services such as securing emergency and transitional housing, emotional support, and a range of services aimed at safety, empowerment, and self-sufficiency. Through community partnerships, we work to raise awareness, provide services, and educate community members about domestic violence to reduce its impact. All our services and programs are offered free of charge.
Donations and contributions are welcomed and greatly appreciated to help us continue our mission of saving women's lives.
BACKGROUND
The FLOW Foundation was established in 2019, driven by a deeply personal tragedy. Twelve years prior, the founder's beloved sister, Kleo Barrett, was tragically killed by an ex-boyfriend in a murder-suicide. Kleo, a vibrant and compassionate 27-year-old, was not just a sister and daughter but a friend to many. Her life was marked by a profound commitment to Chicago and a passion for giving back to her community.
The FLOW Foundation is born out of this tragedy, with a clear mission: to extend a helping hand to those affected by domestic violence. Whether supporting victims, comforting families who have lost loved ones, aiding individuals in leaving abusive relationships, or raising awareness about the signs of domestic violence, our goal is to prevent such tragedies from occurring again.
